Thanks, actually i have been too busy to keep up with publishing one a day or even week, but perhaps I will check the stats and start posting again. Lord knows I have been learning a lot of new words lately.

Mate, enjoyed reading your blog today. Found it from a link on englishmaninosaka. I too work for a Japanese company. I also experience people trying to get on the train at the same time as others are trying to get off and other such nonsense on a daily basis only in kanto instead.
I've become phylosophical about a lot of it to avoid going insane. Passed the JLTP1 this year. Keep up the good work.

I often drink with my father-in-law, so I started using 「な」 rather than 「ね」 from him years ago.
But I live with my wife and our three daughters...so I have to consciously avoid picking up feminine Japanese :)

Anyways, I like the idea of you blog.
I just wrote a post about Japanese idioms...here:

Pretty sure you will be eligible to receive, as they'll go on the taxpayer rolls (that is if you do pay taxes). Talk is families with 2 kids or more will get a lot more money. I don't mind the money coming in but it sure is a stupid way to spend money they don't have.

I sincerely doubt anyone will be made redundant. Even in the bust after the 80s bubble usually the only people made redundant were part-timers and those working at foreign companies. Japanese companies will go to any length to keep their employees, and would rather go belly up so everyone loses their job on the same day, rather than fire a few at a time. Nice if you are a 55 year old woman with no other way to support yourself, not so nice if you have to work beside people who don't pull your weight. Even worse for the stockholders.
Our cleaners focus on the mats that go over the carpet. Almost any time I go out to the drink machine or for a smoke they are there rearranging the frigging mat. Obviously, a mat on top of a carpet is not going to stay still. One day I'll take a staple gun down there and put them out of a job.
